Paul Marshall
President, Managing Partner
Paul Marshall currently oversees the day to day operations of the company. Mr. Marshall began his construction career in Youngstown, Ohio working for the reputable Mike Coates Construction while attending Youngstown State University. Paul obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Youngstown State University. Upon graduation, Paul stayed in the Construction Industry working as a Project Manager for McGraw in Dayton, Ohio. After relocating to Cleveland, Paul began working for Stevens Engineers and Constructors as a Project Controls Manager. In the early 2000’s, Paul’s expertise in contract negotiations and project financials gained the interest of Onex Construction.
In 2005, Paul joined the company as the Vice President of Operations. In addition to his job title, Mr. Marshall also holds an OSHA 500 Certification and has been an integral part of the company’s safety initiative. Paul and, his wife of 35 years, Michele currently reside in Hudson, Ohio. Together they have raised 4 great children. Paul is an active member of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and was recently inducted into the CYO Hall of Fame for his dedication and sacrifice. Outside of work, Paul is an avid Notre Dame sports fan but loves to enjoy time with his family and his Golden Retrievers.
Aaron Smigelski
Vice President, Director of Projects
Aaron Smigelski currently oversees all Engineering and Preconstruction activities of the company. Aaron started working for Onex Construction as a part time employee while attending Ohio University. At Ohio University, Mr. Smigelski obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering while also being a member of the Division 1 Ohio University Baseball Team. Upon graduation, Aaron began his professional career as a Project Manager at Onex Construction. Aaron would assist the Project Superintendent while maintaining the overall finances of the projects. He is responsible for overseeing project estimates and proposals.
As Director of Projects, Mr. Smigelski and his team of engineers are responsible for identifying risks associated with projects and determining the best and most cost-effective solutions to those risks. Mr. Smigelski currently resides in Aurora, Ohio and is a proud member of Barrington Country Club. Aaron is also an avid sports enthusiast. He was inducted into the Nordonia High School Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements and records held in both Football and Baseball. In his free time, Aaron enjoys his favorite pastime which is golf.
Robert Humphrey
Director of Business Development
Robert Humphrey is the Director of Business Development at Onex Construction, with a lifelong connection to the refractory industry. Growing up with a father in the business, he began working in the manufacturing field right after high school, pulling brick off the press. He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and started his career as a field service representative for AP Green in the steel industry, later transitioning to sales in the Ohio steel market.
His career progressed through corporate mergers and shifts, leading him to serve in Industrial market sales, managing various applications covering states from Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. Robert moved into area manager role for Harbison Walker International before joining Onex Construction in 2013, where he focuses on client partnerships and business growth.
He resides in Chardon, Ohio, with his family, enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, golfing, and coaching his kids’ events in his free time.
Ryan Berry
Project Executive
Ryan began his career with Onex Construction as a college intern in 2012. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Global Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Dayton. Ryan was also named Captain of the University of Dayton Baseball Team (NCAA Division 1). In 2015, Ryan received the Dayton chapter, Society of Manufacturing Engineers Award of Excellence for Manufacturing Engineering Technology Achievement. The annual award recognizes a nominee who exemplifies exceptional success in manufacturing management, research, productivity and continuous improvement. Upon graduation Ryan transitioned to a Project Engineer where his duties included project schedule oversight, purchasing, preconstruction estimates, and progress tracking. Ryan now serves as a Project Executive where he oversees all aspects of the project from preconstruction to close out. Ryan oversees Safety and Quality Management to ensure all projects satisfy the expectations of Onex Construction and our valued customers. Ryan maintains an OSHA 500 certification along with Oracle Primavera P6 basic and advanced certifications. Ryan resides in Green, Ohio with his wife and two daughters.
Matt Bury
Corporate Risk / Project Controls Manager
Matt is a seasoned project controls manager at Onex Construction, where he oversees all facets of industrial and construction management projects. His commitment to excellence and efficiency sets him apart in the field. As the project controls manager, Matt ensures seamless execution of complex projects. His focus on job costing and forecasting enhances accountability for clients from project inception to completion. Matt holds a degree from John Carroll University, providing a solid foundation for his career in the construction industry. He also earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable practices. Matt tailors internal processes to exceed customer needs, recognizing the ever-changing landscape of construction disciplines. His commitment to our clients fosters strong relationships. Outside the workplace, Matt enjoys traveling and cheering on Notre Dame football. He resides in Green, Ohio, with his wife and two golden retrievers.
